"To whom much  has been given much is required" I look deep into education through the eyes of the quotee as I search for opportunities for my students. My growth as an educator has come with lessons; major one coming from my recent experience of training girls towards the high school forum discussion competition, seeing them practising what has been taught and delivering it through learned skills and reflecting on performance. I thrive on making my surroundings thrive. Motivation is a huge factor. Truth be told; we are not everyone's people and people aren't all ours; this is quite a mouthful for someone in education with expectations of 'professionalism'; a word intentionally quotation marked for the purpose of this section because of my experience with my girls. This picture takes me back to my America's next model; with aspirations of becoming Africa's...STILL  ME: short, petite, shy yet outspoken, South African, smart, inquisitive...  HER: taller, darker, smart, slimmer, sensitive, Somali, shy yet verbal of her realities current and past... This year was also my first time coming across the procedure 'female genital mutilation'... and it wouldn't be the first; here goes: I remember her chocolate brown skin her tiny eyes beautiful cheekbones and pointed nose her gorgeous smile through tears as she told her story there in my lounge listening her soft voice my dad exclaiming in shock: it wasn't the first time hearing such I remember the smell of the food my mother was preparing for us mouth watering samp and beans coffee tea coming up for dad my senses ignited not in joiy but in disgust and shock shock at society of that time shock at the ';values' instilled in women we will cut ...

It is is with great pleasure and power for me to introduce my girls to the art of storytelling. Stories personal to their contexts and beings;  who they are, who they have been, ought to be, want to be, need to be... Because in all fact, all those categories may be totally different viewed in or/and of isolation. Students should not be fed, simply, but exposed to food for the soul, both from their peers and those who have gone past and the living. Most of all students should make their own food; what best way than through stories. This half term my grade 9's are telling their stories through different media in topics such as: life through movies life through people we have and have not met life through music life through books life through poetry etc...

Join me! # edtechteam edtech . team /kzn2017 GLOBAL STUDIES A paperless classroom which integrated arts and computer studies through the use of chrome's, computers , laptops etc.  It seeks to empower students with 21st century skills. Offered in grades 8 to 9, it starts with the basics computer skill use up to research and presentation of research.  It is largely a Google Suite for Education subject. All assessments and tasks are processed online followed by timeous feedback.  Global Studies based on its aim of preparing students for being global citizens through study, discussion, production and teaching of issues affecting global humanity with the intent of preparing our students for the future.  We seek to provide it students with skills that will empower them for life out of school through a variety of skills. #GrowthMindset #FutureOrientatedLearning #...
