CORONA VIRUS THOUGHTS THUS FAR
It's been a week since we closed schools in SA and anxieties are on high for majority of South Africans as we count hours to #SAlockdown for 21 days. But what does a state of lockdown mean for communities? It goes without saying that views will be different, so will be feelings. Already we are at throats about what should and what shouldn't be; employers to pay or not to pay employees... UIF or not? What happens to street vendors and the informal entrepreneurship sector? To jog or not, what about dogs really? Where are the rich and where have the poor been placed? In a land full of corruption and crime, are we not bound to see more of this? It's a lot and there are no straight answers for most of the above.
As an educator passionate in educational technologies, sustainable social development and language education I'm most curious about parental/guardian roles in students' learning, even more so now during #covidlockdown #SAlockdown . Reality is: majority can't afford #onlinelearning BUT ALSO- learner support is and has been possible without #onlinelearning.
A couple of questions have arised as a result:
For the general public: How can parents/guardians without the online educational means support their children? #SAlockdown
For the parents: what are you doing to support students in your homes?
I STRONGLY FEEL: THERE IS NO TIME THAN NOW, FOR CAREGIVERS/PARENTS/GUARDIANS TO PLAY TEACHING ROLES FOR THE BENEFIT OF THEIR CHILDREN LEARNING.

Or does it explode? This was one of my first reads in undergrad for an English module called me a to analyse a reflect on self and society. What did you do when your dreams were deterred and you...
